From a young age, my father and uncle spent countless hours with me in the field and instilled in me a love for hunting and the outdoors. The memories of those happy times has shown me the importance of passing down the lessons learned to my own sons. All my life, I've had a passion for the dogs who have accompanied us in the field and at home. As an avid hunter of both fur and feather, I require a versatile and adept hunting dog. This website is to help hunters understand the Deutsch-Drahthaar (DD) and its use as a versatile hunting dog. I welcome you to come spend a day in the field with one of our Drahthaars.
The DD is a versatile hunting dog registered in Germany. My kennel "vom roten Fluss" (translation: "from the Red River") is also registered in Germany. All Drahthaars must pass a series of hunting tests that judge performance in the field and in the presence of game. They are also evaluated in both coat and confirmation before they can be certified for breeding. This strict selective process results in consistently producing exceptional hunting dogs with the natural ability to point, blood track, and retrieve in both water and in the field. While the DD is an exceptional hunter they also make great family dogs. For those that want to learn more about the breed please give me a call.
